    Professor Augustine Oko Angba became the Acting Vice Chancellor of Cross River University of Technology on May 7, 2020. Before then, he was a Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology, University of Calabar, Nigera. He started work as Assistant Lecturer in the Department in 1996. He has held several positions in the University. He was appointed Head of Department in 2010 and Deputy Director, Research in 2015. He has also acted as Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. He was appointed the Rector of the Institute of Technology and Management (CR-ITM), Ugep, C.R.S, Nigeria in 2016. 
    He hails from Uchu, Yache in Yala LGA of C.R.S. He was admitted into Ireti Primary School Ikoyi, Lagos in 1977 and finished with a distinction.  He attended Maryknoll College, Okuku Yala Cross River State, Had his BSc, Msc and Ph.D (in the year 2000) all in the field of Agricultural Extension from the University of Ibadan. He also studied for a post graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Management (PGD Mgt), and a Masters in Business Administration in the University of Calabar. Worthy of note also is that he gave his life to Christ on April 1999 and went to two schools of Theological to acquire a Certificate and two PGDs in Theology and Biblical Exegesis. He later became an assistant Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). 
    He has written and published more than 60 articles in renowned and revered Local and International journals of very high impact factor with extensive citations. He has also published two books - Divine secrets of academic success and The Making of an academic giant. He is an astute academic and an erudite scholar of international repute. He grew steadily on the ranks and became a substantive professor in 2012. He is a high profile international consultant to the World Bank, DFID UK, USAID etc. He has been a visiting Professor to more than 10 universities in Nigeria and abroad. He was also an Adjunct Professor with the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) for over 10 years. He has graduated many Post-graduate candidates (Msc and Ph.D) and examined several others in many Universities. He has also assessed several University Lecturers to the rank of Associate professor and Professor. 
    He is the President of Peniel Education Ministries International and Publisher of Educare magazine.
    Member and executive of many Local and International professional bodies and Journals editor.
    He has won several Local and International social and technical awards;
    1. Best Solicitor of the year (1992): Junior Chamber International 
    2. Support Africa International German Award (2007). Berlin.
    3. Enlisted in the Nigerian Book of Great People 2007. A PSR Magazine Publication, Lagos. p77.
    4. Certificate of International Merit award (2015): Recognized for outstanding research and presentation by the University of London (ULU), Uk
    5.  Enlisted in Contemporary Who is who in Cross River State (2016). A publication of Profiles and Biography, p.37
    6.  African Graduate Students’ Leadership award (2017). Accra Ghana
    7. Vision Africa Award in London (2017): Award of leadership contribution to National growth in the 15th anniversary celebration in USA and London. 
    He has sourced and won so many Local and International grants.
    He is a very enthusiastic, pragmatic, highly focused and result oriented individual, with very good communication, interpersonal and motivational skills.
    He believes that with God all things are possible 
    His passion is to see people grow, achieve their goals and succeed. He is married to an exceptional Noble wife - Cynthia and is blessed with children - male and female. 
    Mr. Beshel was employed in the Cross River State Post Primary School Management Board in 1979 and rose to the rank of Vice Principal. Thereafter, he joined the service of the former Polytechnic, Calabar, where he served in many capacities including his appointment as the Public Relations Officer, a position he held until the advent of Cross River University of Technology, from the former Polytechnic, Calabar in 2002.

    In 2009, Mr. Beshel was appointed the University’s Public Relations Officer alongside other responsibilities. Arising from his commitment and devotion to duty, he has enjoyed steady promotions to his current rank of Deputy Registrar. As a seasonal Administrator and Public Relations Practitioner, he has served as Chairman Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Cross River State Chapter. He was one time State Coordinator, Special Marshal FRSC, and also President Calabar City Joggers Club. A member of many Professional bodies, Mr. Beshel has travelled widely, and has also attended many seminars, conferences and workshops both home and abroad.

    Mr. Gabriel Agim Beshel who currently is the Registrar of Cross River University of Technology is happily married with children; his hobbies include jogging, music, cooking and travelling.
