The Vice Chancellor of UNICROSS, Prof. Augustine Oko Angba, has tasked Cross Riverians to embrace unity as a precursor to achieving development and growth within and outside the State. Stressing the benefits of unity, the UNICROSS helmsman added that he will not be surprised if by virtue of its manpower capacity, an indigene of Cross River State emerges as President of the Country, come 2023. The Vice Chancellor who bared his mind during a courtesy call on him by the Executive Members of Cross River Community, UNICAL Branch in his office, expressed his willingness to support the UNICAL-based organization and to encourage the birth of same in UNICROSS.
He stated that the body was necessary to foster synergy and fast-track development among Cross Riverians.
Earlier, the President of the "Community", Dr. Raphael Offiong, pointed out that as one of their own, they were in UNICROSS to felicitate Prof. Angba on his well-deserved appointment as the substantive Vice Chancellor of UNICROSS. He stated that the welfare-driven group aims to enthrone peace and harmony among the indigenous people of Cross River in UNICAL as well as among people of other indigenous groups. He added that the group has relatively achieved this feat. Dr. Offiong called for more collaboration with sister institutions in this regard. He applauded the Vice Chancellor's developmental strides and thanked him for receiving them under short notice.
He also assured him of the group's support to enable him succeed in office.
High point of the event was the presentation of a Plaque of Honour and books to the Vice Chancellor.
